Recycling empty HP 67 cartridges: free through HP
An empty cartridge doesn't belong in the trash: it contains a print head, a chip and leftover ink.

Free returns to HP
HP takes back empty Original HP cartridges free of charge through HP Planet Partners. HP's US page offers three routes:
- Mail it back: request free shipping labels, envelopes or boxes and send the cartridges in.
- Drop it off: HP names Staples, Best Buy, Office Depot/OfficeMax and Walmart (ink only) as drop-off locations.
- Pickup: only for large quantities (more than 1,000 ink cartridges).
What about compatible or remanufactured cartridges?
These can't go back to HP. Store recycling programs change their terms from time to time, and we haven't checked each one for non-HP cartridges, so we don't list them here. Ask the store where you bought the cartridge, or your local recycling program.
What happens next
HP describes returned cartridges being recycled, with material going back into new HP products. 67ink.com doesn't publish its own life-cycle assessment; this is general information. If you'd like to weigh reuse when buying, read original or compatible.
